Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

2006 Zeitgeist Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley

Released  February 26, 2009

In 2006 we again selected only the best barrels for inclusion in the final blend, limiting the production to eight barrels for a total of 190 cases. The 2006 is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, and is a blend from our two vineyard sources, the Anomaly Vineyard in St. Helena and the Farella Vineyard in Combsville.

Tasting Notes

The 2006 Zeitgeist Cabernet Sauvignon exhibits a diverse group of scents; brown sugar and baklava are intermixed with notes of sweet fruits, notably raspberry and plum.  A tinge of bergamot lends life to the nose.  The wine is suave as it enters your mouth and displays a lushness that is a hallmark of Napa Valley Cabernet.  The 2006 is cut from the same cloth as its slighter older brother (the 2005), but is more mineral in its nature and precise in its focus.  Plush tannins culminate in a beautiful and noticeably lasting finish.

2005 Zeitgeist Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley  {Sold Out}

After careful selection, we chose the best 5 barrels of Cabernet Sauvignon from the 2005 vintage to create the 2005 Zeitgeist Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon.   The final blend is a combination of Cabernet Sauvignon from two distinct vineyards: the Farella Vineyard in Coombsville and the Anomaly Vineyard in St. Helena.  Coombsville is known for its relatively cool and long growing season, bringing structure and foundation to the wine.  St. Helena is a warmer site that is known for it's elegantly crafted, fruit driven wines.

Tasting Notes:

The 2005 Zeitgeist is loaded with flavors of ripe, red cherry, blackberry and hazlenut. Notes of anise and honeycomb lend a touch of spice to the mid-palate evoking a complex hoisin flavor.  The wine is approachable on the palate ad relaxed in the finish.  It's enjoyable and ready to be shared.

2005 Zeitgeist Syrah Thompson Vineyard Santa Barbara   {Sold Out}

In 2005, we were able to get a very small amount of Syrah from Thompson Vineyard in Santa Barbara County. Our philosophy with such a small lot was nothing added, nothing removed--only one barrel was vinified! The wine is approachable, fruit-driven and succulent.
